After the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine the organic companies have suffered from different negative effects of the war and hostilities. That is why the Organic Initiative decided to establish the Grant Program “Support of organic sector in Ukraine” to support organic producers and other organic market operators, to maintain and strengthen the capacity of the organic sector of Ukraine in the mid- and long term.

The Grant Program "Support of organic sector in Ukraine"

Purpose of the Grant Program
To support the organic producers, preserve and strengthen the capacity of the organic sector of Ukraine in the mid- and long-term.
Phase 2 of the Grant Program was focused on strengthening the capacity of the organic sector, supporting organic operators, organic producers and processors with a focus on sales and marketing.

Participants of the Grant Program
Organic market operators, service providers, public organisations and unions working in the field of organic production, circulation and labelling of organic products duly incorporated in Ukraine and operating pursuant to the effective legislation of Ukraine

The Program structure
The Grant Program consists of several phases. During Phase 1 support was primarily provided to micro, small and medium enterprises and small producers whose areas are located in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Sumy regions which were occupied during the first months of invasion or other regions that suffered from active hostilities. 34 organic operators received grants at the amount of about UAH 6 mln to implement their projects in the frame of Phase 2 of the Grant Program “Support of organic sector in Ukraine” initiated by the Organic Initiative.

Support formats and main results:
During Phase 1 support was provided in the form of financial aid and free organic fertilizers and plant protection products.
At 2d phase it was important to create the preconditions for further development of the organic sector. Support was given to the initiatives that help to restore the economic viability of operators and service providers of the organic market.
